![]() Early life and Childhoodīarney Harris was born in London, England, United Kingdom in 1997. Like an orphan with no arms or legs, with progeria.Dónal Finn will reportedly portray Mat Cauthon in the recasting of “The Wheel of Time.”īarney has also appeared in other television series and films. All they can do is take the things they love and criticize, twist, and ruin them until their own hate is justified. This highsandyground fucker though? Just another angry incel, with a life so devoid of meaning, hope, love or purpose that the only thing he can do is hate and rage against his own meaninglessness. In the show it looks like they took a little gold statue and just hammered it carelessly to the side of the sword. I'd always interpreted it more as a filigree or engraving on the blade something stylized and elegant. (TV shows don't work like books, things must progress differently.) Literally the only thing I've actually taken issue with is the heron mark on Rand's sword. I have loved the direction and the cast, and I've even enjoyed most of the changes. And I will tell you, that the show is goddamn fantastic. I know these stories and these characters better than I know my own family, and I care about them more than most of my living relatives. My xmas present to myself a few years back was a complete hardbound WoT collection. Best book series I have ever read in my entire life. But if THAT travesty of cinema is what he considers a good adaptation, I cannot even begin to fathom how this person can take issue with ANYTHING in The Wheel of Time series. I actually read that book from front to back(jail is a very boring place), and while there are some serious pacing and logical issues(considering it was written by the founder of Scientology, that's to be expected), it really wasn't that bad. Acting, Casting, Directing, Writing, Storyboarding, and most of all, the Adaptation from the Source Material is atrocious. Not only is it not that, it's one of the worst films that has ever been made, from every single standpoint. ![]() This dude totally called Battlefield Earth "A legendary book adaptation". All you get from them is a "This sucks, go fuck yourself." with ZERO reasoning, feedback, understanding, or even a willingness to consider a different perspective.īesides. Criticism and feedback are important, especially going into a show that's likely to last a decade, but that's not what these kind of people present. Which, like you said, is why we never get these things. They're selfish, juvenile, and too far up their own asses to enjoy something that is genuinely GOOD because it falls short of some false notion of perfection in their minds. See, there are things I don’t like too but it’s either that or another medical/legal drama and I am a lawyer with doctor parents so I can’t stomach any of that, lmao. That and they could have spent a little more money on the costumes. Besides, the show really isn’t that bad if taken separately on it’s own merits and if nothing else visually stunning although I don’t know why they decided to go with a middle eastern theme for Tar Valon when it’s literally supposed to be based on Arthurian Avalon. But frankly I am so starved for fantasy content I am willing to tolerate it. This show was made decades after the original books and is geared towards a different kind of audience and unfortunately it’s not those of us who grew up reading quality fantasy novels. TV execs are simply not greenlighting anything that doesn’t do that. Even adaptations of well known and popular works get the same fan fiction treatment aimed at scoring cheap woke points because that’s what gets traction online and especially on social media. That’s just what TV shows are like nowadays. The IP is a proven winner and the idiots seem either incapable or more intent on putting their stamp on it than making it a commercial or popular success. Two episodes of slow-paced almost entirely pointless fan-fic in the white tower while most of the main characters have less screen time than nameless extras. The writers and decision makers seem pretty incompetent when it comes to choosing how to exploit and implement the rich story handed to them on a silver platter. They obviously wanted to lock in some bargain basement unknown "talent" amongst the cast in case it takes off. The execs already cut the first season from 10 to 8 episodes, and there was no lack of entertaining source material to use if they weren't just cutting costs. It really feels like their budget's restricted though. The set designers and film crew are doing a good job with their resources, and the hefty portion of CGI is pretty good. I really don't think it's fair to say they spared no expenses though.
