All they can do is take the things they love and criticize, twist, and ruin them until their own hate is justified. This highsandyground fucker though? Just another angry incel, with a life so devoid of meaning, hope, love or purpose that the only thing he can do is hate and rage against his own meaninglessness. In the show it looks like they took a little gold statue and just hammered it carelessly to the side of the sword. I'd always interpreted it more as a filigree or engraving on the blade something stylized and elegant. (TV shows don't work like books, things must progress differently.) Literally the only thing I've actually taken issue with is the heron mark on Rand's sword. I have loved the direction and the cast, and I've even enjoyed most of the changes. And I will tell you, that the show is goddamn fantastic. I know these stories and these characters better than I know my own family, and I care about them more than most of my living relatives. My xmas present to myself a few years back was a complete hardbound WoT collection. Best book series I have ever read in my entire life. But if THAT travesty of cinema is what he considers a good adaptation, I cannot even begin to fathom how this person can take issue with ANYTHING in The Wheel of Time series. I actually read that book from front to back(jail is a very boring place), and while there are some serious pacing and logical issues(considering it was written by the founder of Scientology, that's to be expected), it really wasn't that bad. Acting, Casting, Directing, Writing, Storyboarding, and most of all, the Adaptation from the Source Material is atrocious. Not only is it not that, it's one of the worst films that has ever been made, from every single standpoint. ![]() This dude totally called Battlefield Earth "A legendary book adaptation". All you get from them is a "This sucks, go fuck yourself." with ZERO reasoning, feedback, understanding, or even a willingness to consider a different perspective.īesides. Criticism and feedback are important, especially going into a show that's likely to last a decade, but that's not what these kind of people present. Which, like you said, is why we never get these things. They're selfish, juvenile, and too far up their own asses to enjoy something that is genuinely GOOD because it falls short of some false notion of perfection in their minds. See, there are things I don’t like too but it’s either that or another medical/legal drama and I am a lawyer with doctor parents so I can’t stomach any of that, lmao. That and they could have spent a little more money on the costumes. Besides, the show really isn’t that bad if taken separately on it’s own merits and if nothing else visually stunning although I don’t know why they decided to go with a middle eastern theme for Tar Valon when it’s literally supposed to be based on Arthurian Avalon. But frankly I am so starved for fantasy content I am willing to tolerate it. This show was made decades after the original books and is geared towards a different kind of audience and unfortunately it’s not those of us who grew up reading quality fantasy novels. TV execs are simply not greenlighting anything that doesn’t do that. Even adaptations of well known and popular works get the same fan fiction treatment aimed at scoring cheap woke points because that’s what gets traction online and especially on social media. That’s just what TV shows are like nowadays. The IP is a proven winner and the idiots seem either incapable or more intent on putting their stamp on it than making it a commercial or popular success. Two episodes of slow-paced almost entirely pointless fan-fic in the white tower while most of the main characters have less screen time than nameless extras. The writers and decision makers seem pretty incompetent when it comes to choosing how to exploit and implement the rich story handed to them on a silver platter. They obviously wanted to lock in some bargain basement unknown "talent" amongst the cast in case it takes off. The execs already cut the first season from 10 to 8 episodes, and there was no lack of entertaining source material to use if they weren't just cutting costs. It really feels like their budget's restricted though. The set designers and film crew are doing a good job with their resources, and the hefty portion of CGI is pretty good. I really don't think it's fair to say they spared no expenses though.

![]() Cisco holds the top market share position in nearly every subsection of the enterprise networking market, including campus and data center switching, networking software, routing, software-defined wide-area networking, or SD-WAN, and wireless access.Ĭisco also offers a comprehensive platform for cybersecurity. Cisco’s switches, wireless access points, routers, and networking software allow enterprises to create local networks and give those networks access to private clouds, public clouds, and the internet. It’s the only provider we see with a complete end-to-end portfolio for both on-premises and the cloud. These competitive advantages give us confidence in Cisco’s profits over the next 20 years.Ĭisco is the dominant force in enterprise networking. We think Cisco’s offerings for networking and cybersecurity are comprehensive and intertwined, with integrated software, hardware, and services creating a sticky overall solution and leading to pricing power. We assign Cisco an economic moat rating of wide, stemming from customer switching costs. Read more about Cisco’s fair value estimate. Though security has lagged peers of late, we think it can begin to slow market share losses with a more streamlined, feature-rich, cloud-based platform and more observability integration. We expect more rapid growth from Cisco’s security, collaboration, and observability businesses. We assume Cisco can stem its market share losses in networking, and expect strength from its newer product families with more software and subscription-based consumption models like the Catalyst 9000, Nexus 9000, and Cisco 8000. We think its largest core networking business, including services, will expand roughly 3% at midcycle, largely in line with the underlying market. We forecast 5% compound annual growth for Cisco through fiscal 2027, including an exceptional fiscal 2023 with 10% growth and 3%-4% midcycle growth thereafter. Our biggest drivers to Cisco’s valuation are the growth of its core networking business and its ability to maintain and improve both gross and operating margins. Our valuation implies adjusted price/earnings of 15 times for the fiscal year 2023, fiscal 2023 enterprise value/sales of 4 times, a free cash flow yield of 7%, and a next-12-month dividend yield of 3%. Our fair value estimate is $56 per share. With its 4-star rating, we believe Cisco stock is undervalued. We believe investors who buy in now can see strong upside. When we consider our long-term view of strong networking equipment demand, Cisco stock looks undervalued. We aren’t overly concerned, as we believe delayed orders from the past two years can make up for weak short-term demand, and the firm’s long-term fundamentals look healthy. Cisco stock continues to be weighed down by worries about demand in the short term.Cisco remains highly profitable, driven by its pricing power, competitive leadership in networking equipment, and wide economic moat.Cisco’s fiscal third-quarter results came in ahead of expectations, driven by its core sales of networking equipment, but were tempered by poor order growth. Here’s Morningstar’s take on what to think of Cisco’s earnings and stock. Gripping Powerĭifferent types of screw extractors use different strategies for gripping a stripped or rusted screw or bolt head. While a small kit with four or five extractor sizes is adequate for most, it makes sense for pros or DIYers to invest in a set that can cover a broad range of sizes. Other sets can remove tiny machine screws found in electronics, such as laptop computers with extractors as small as 0.0781 inches. Larger sets have extractors as large as 0.875 inches and are capable of removing large bolts on vehicles and industrial machines. Most sets include sizes ranging from 0.125 inches up to 0.625 inches. Screw heads come in a wide variety of sizes, so it’s important to pay attention to what sizes the screw extractor can accommodate. Attach the end to a 0.375-inch or 0.500-inch ratchet and turn counterclockwise to remove the bolt or screw. To use an extractor tool, place it over the head of the stud or bolt, then tighten the grip around it like a vice. Many spiral screw extractor kits come with matching drill bits. The extractor has reverse threads that grip the screw as it rotates inside the hole counterclockwise. Spiral screw extractor: A spiral screw extractor removes screws or bolts by fitting them into a hole that’s been drilled into the fastener’s head with a drill bit.The threads typically have a spiral pattern that becomes tighter with force. These threads bite into the bolt head as the user turns the socket counterclockwise using a socket wrench. There are many types and brands of screw extractors on the market, but few have the mettle to do the job properly. These handy devices consist of a drill bit that grinds a hole into the head of a screw and a threaded extractor that bites into this hole, gripping the screw so that the user can remove it with a drill or ratchet. A good screw extractor can make quick work of damaged screws. The good news is that there is a solution to this frustrating issue: a screw extractor. This frustrating issue can leave one digging through their collection of tools in vain, searching for a way to remove the offending fastener. Few things can bring a building project or repair effort to a grinding halt like a stripped screw or bolt. ![]() Written by Brett Johnson and Michael Tolkin, and directed by Ben Stiller, the series tells the story of the 2015 Clinton Correctional Facility escape, when Richard Matt ( Benicio Del Toro) and David Sweat ( Paul Dano) escaped the maximum security prison with the aid of civilian prison employee Joyce "Tilly" Mitchell ( Patricia Arquette). Excellently directed and beautifully shot, with a quartet of astounding performances at its centre, the show tells a fascinating story, but it moves at a glacial pace that requires serious patience, and which doesn't offer much in the way of rewards (although the last two episodes are undeniably exceptional). Ostensibly a prison break genre piece, the series is more interested in the psychology of the people involved than in either of the two usual routes for such stories triumphant escape or social commentary. And so we have the otherwise excellent Escape at Dannemora, a four or five-hour story elongated to eight hours. Except for one thing - "Netflix bloat" essentially, the phenomenon of TV shows having their stories stretched too thin across too many episodes. So, with that in mind, in an era where long-form narrative has become the norm, I should be in my element. The most egregious example I can think of is the fourth season episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) (a serial offender in this respect), " Future Imperfect (1990)", in which one of the main characters adopts an alien, who was never to be seen or heard from again. And for as long as I've admired long-form narrative, I've disliked episodic storytelling, especially shows where the events of a given week seem to have little-to-no bearing beyond that one week. As far back as the late 80s/early 90s, long before "long-form narrative" would become the dominant mode of television storytelling, I was a fan of what would then have been called "non-episodic storytelling", the best-known examples of which would have been Michael Mann's Crime Story (1986) and David Lynch and Mark Frost's Twin Peaks (1990). I never thought about it that way, maybe we can test that. When I was in the role at CISA, I’d just ravenously consume podcasts and articles and podcasts like this. Throw out some envelope, bleeding edge type recommendations that can help inform the policy discussion. Test some assumptions that we all have on how things work. Those tabletop simulations are really valuable particularly when you have really thoughtful people in the same room. I said, "Okay, as long as somebody notifies, works with industry, and owns it, I'm out." I readdressed it with the two individuals the next day in a joking fashion but it was not a fight I felt like fighting.Ĭhris: Nonetheless, it was a fun exercise. I've seen this happen to Jen Easterly, my successor and then Chris Inglis who's the national cyber director and senators and Congress members would say, "Who's in charge of cyber," and I would always be like, "Why are you asking me? You make those decisions, not me."Įric: Well, I took the cowardly approach and I punched out. ![]() It was always funny to me when I would testify in front of Congress. One of those areas where there's a lot of room for improvement and simplification from a government perspective is to streamline the government engagement process.Ĭhris: I'm always obviously a homer for CISA and CISA should be that front door. If I'm energy, I need to call the Department of Energy. It gets very complex and becomes a drain of resources when you think about, "Okay, I need to call the FBI. But from the private sector perspective, it gets really confusing. There's a lot of value for a range of different agencies to engage with the private sector. Aren't you going to have CISA make those notifications to the private sector?" It's another one of those really interesting policy discussions from the government perspective. We're going to inform."Ĭhris: I remember that and I said, "Well, wait a second. We need to inform CISA and let them know what we're seeing." I said, "We also need to inform the industry of what's going on as the IC." And I got these two people just whipped their heads around and said, "CISA is the IC." I backed up, I was like, "Okay. Someone said, "We're working with CISA on this. We were going through this ransomware exercise and what you would do next. There was a big ransomware scenario, but it was a lot of fun.Įric: I was in the intelligence group. I had the honor to serve as her national security advisor. CISA needs to really focus on growing its understanding and enrichment and contextualizing of that open source space.Įric: We were doing an exercise and you were the national security advisor.Ĭhris: Sue Gordon, the former deputy national intelligence, director of national intelligence was the president. When you think about the information ecosystem right now, just how it's exploding, that classified piece is proportionately shrinking compared to proprietary and open source. They've got more opportunity to excel in the open-source space more than probably any other agency in the federal government. ![]() That's actually a point of discussion within the policy circles and on the hill whether CISA should become part of the IC. Chris, is it CISA or CISA?Ĭhris: I try not to be pedantic about this, but, as the person that came up with the name, it’s CISA.Įric: I get confused because you hear it both ways and I'm like, "Wait a minute.
